City of Bones - on audiobook

I am currently listening to City of Bones by Cassandra Claire.  I had heard the hype on this series awhile ago but never got around to reading it.  I even had the book in my house without realizing it ...  it was a birthday present to my son a few years back.  The library just received the audio version of the book so I grabbed it because of my long car treks back and forth from work.  May I say that this is a great book!  I sat in the parking lot of the library listening to the story, not wanting to go to work so that I could hear the rest of the chapter.  Audiobooks are a great way to keep up on your reading, especially if you are in the car for a long time or taking public transit.  Come and see me for some good audiobook suggestions :)

Website of the Day

Do you like dinosaurs?  Do you want to find out some interesting facts about them?  This past week our storytimes were all on dinosaurs.  Did you know that Brachylophosaurus may be its official name, but many affectionately know this relatively "new" dinosaur as "Elvis," due to its unusual head crest that resembles the famous rock 'n' roll singer's hair.

Check out this link to the Discovery Channel:  http://dsc.discovery.com/dinosaurs/    for more interesting facts about dinosaurs.

Happy 40th Anniversary Sesame Street

I don't know if anyone has noticed but on the Google homepage for the past week, there have been different characters from Seseame Street featured.  This is all in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Seseame Street.  I loved watching it when I was growing up.  Who was your favourite character?  Mine was the Grouch.  Some of my most favourite scenes:  Grover doing near and far.

Shadow Puppet Sucess

Yesterday we had Panadream Theatre come in to do a workshop on how to make shadow puppets. The kids did an incredible job of creating their own "under the sea" shadow puppets. One little one made 9 turtles!!! Great fun was had by all. Thanks to the Panadream team for bringing something new to the library :)
