New online catalogue features

The library has updated its online catalogue to bring more features to you.  We have acquired the services of Library Thing which is a public cataloguing website where you can create your own book collection with your own tags on the books.  This is then tied to the larger picture of what other people have tagged the book which offers you suggestions on similar books.  We have now implemented this onto our catalogue which gives you more book suggestions.  Also, you can review the books that you have read and read other people's comments on books you might want to read.  All in all, this is a great new tool for finding books to read and recommending books to other people.  I highly encourage you to check it out and also to go to librarything and create your own book collecton there.  Have fun!!!!

I was initially excited by the Library Thing, thinking it was related to that superhero. The one with the body made of bricks, or whatever that is supposed to be. But it turns out the Thing is a book review system, which is brilliant. Good idea. It would be neat if I could get my Amazon reviews to be automatically added to the Thing.

I love library Thing because it keeps track of the books that I have read. I actually have 2 accounts - 1 for my personal reading and 1 for the books I read in childrens. I also like it for the book reviews and linking to other people's account to see the books they are reading that are similar to mine.
I guess in the meantime, you can copy and paste your amazon reviews :) However, if you write to LibraryThing and put that suggestion out there to them, they might be able to do something with amazon. You never know!
